Now I lay me down to sleep, the floors rumbled beneath my tiny feet.
Guitar sounds danced through the walls,
I’d hear them ring.
A melody was planted in my heart.................
✮ ONCE UPON A TIME, ✮
When I was a little girl, I discovered I had a special gift. I could sing. I began developing this talent and it took me to magical places far beyond my imagination.
I was eight years old when mom and dad decided I was old enough to record my first record. Mom wrote the songs and dad was the engineer. It was released on “Basic Records” my dads record label-studio, which was located in our basement, just below my bedroom.
In the process of recording my first record,
I finally came face to face with the rumbling bedroom floor monster and I was quite intimidated by how much louder its rumble was in person, but quite relieved that it wasn’t going to eat me, thanks to my sister Sandy’s prayers and support! (I am on the left)
On the contrary, it was a polished piece of electrified wood with strings known as the bass guitar, and the ringing melodies were the sweet sounds of electric, acoustic, and steel guitars played by various local musicians and singers in the Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana area. I felt really small and a little bit shy as I stood in the middle of the floor surrounded by big people and instruments of all shapes and sizes, but that didn’t last long. As soon as I opened my mouth to sing good things began to happen!
One side of my first record was a duet with my sister Sandy, and the flip side was a song that mom wrote for me to sing by myself. It was called Tattle-Tale. (Below, I am on the left.)

And
I

sing!
